poems

I’ve written poetry on and off for most of my life. For the past few years, it’s been off. I think the last decent poem I wrote was in the year 2000 while I was living in Beijing.

I miss the days when I used to write poetry. I don’t know that I ever gave myself a chance with it. I submitted poems once to a literary journal (can’t remember which one), but I think it was one with a very small acceptance rate. I could have kept trying, but I didn’t.

Anyway, I’ve been going to poetry daily to get my fix of good poems, and I’m getting inspired. If you like poetry, I highly recommend the site. I love the way poetry makes me feel. I even dreamed I was writing it the other night. Perhaps poetry will come back to me soon.

I would just like to comment on the fact that, aside for all bias -- seriously, I think my wife is an astute and gifted writer. She would not believe this in a million years, but having devoured half of my libraries growing up, I've come across some really great, and some...not so great. I think my wife has imense potential as a writer, whether it's narrative prose or poetry. I used to think I too was a gifted writer until I read what Holli is capable of. I may have some writing skill, but it is clearly not in the same vein as my wife. I hope you'll all encourage her to pursue this, so that she will not neglect her talents...

Holli...you changed your template from this morning! Wowie! I agree with you Jon-jon, Holli does not give herself enough credit. :)

If you haven't already, you should check out Strong Verse. It's not updated daily, but I really like the quality of their poetry.

John, you are seriously the sweetest. But don't discount your writing. We just have different styles--I think you're a brilliant writer.

Well, I have written some dandy speeches and talking points for some VIPs...does that count? I'm sarcastic...and sardonic at times...I was columnist and never got bad e-mail...except when the flippin' AZ Republic screwed my voting article up...
